    Shifting into Manual Mode

I recall hearing that the ECU/TCU "learns" your driving habits and accommodates them. I'll look for that. In the meantime, also be aware that if you hold either of the paddles for more than one second, it will revert back to automatic, so make sure you aren't "riding" the paddle.

    Shifting into Manual Mode

I think the computer is monitoring engine RPM and gear selection. If your RPM goes over or under some programmed value, the transmission will shift to bring it back into the "wheelhouse." We have also been advised that the car "learns" your driving habits and choices and will adjust somewhat...

    Transmission louder in manual mode?

Haven't noticed, but perhaps the computer is thinking in Sport mode and enhancing the exhaust sound? My wife has my Stinger out of town. I'll check it when it comes home.

Does Kia have any warranty on the brakes?

To be honest, I have no idea since I never touched them. Both my '05 GTO and the '08 G8 GT came from the GM Holden Commodore plant in Australia. My GTO has PBR brakes. There was no visible marking on the calipers on the G8 GT that I remember. The G8 was a long distance road car and although...

    Science behind cracked plugs?

A lot of spark plug "science" is trial and error. The plugs transfer heat into the heads by thread contact. If you increase the boost pressure, it gives more oxygen for more fuel, and hence more power. But a more dense fuel/air mix requires more coil power to fire the spark across the plug...

Does Kia have any warranty on the brakes?

I defer to @MulinatoR. I drove my Pontiac G8 GT for 200,000 miles on the original pads, so wearing out brakes in 12,000 miles is -- well, unbelievable -- not to mention that I need to go back and RTFM. [8]

Does Kia have any warranty on the brakes?

Most dealers will replace warped rotors (which should never happen if you break them in properly during the first 1,000) but pad wear is your problem. It's in the warranty manual.

    Carnauba or a Polymer?

The best waxes can go on in the sun. There is no reason to need for a carnuba/poly wax to "dry."

Who's received their free Harman Kardon Soho headphones?

    None here. March purchase GT2.

    Carnauba or a Polymer?

I used Maguire's Gold Class carnuba/polymer paste wax. I think polymers last longer, carnuba's are reported to leave a better shine. Go figure..... I used Black Magic liquid poly on my '05 GTO and it looks like new, but they haven't made that wax in several years.

Which Oil Temperature in the LCD?

I don't know if it applies to all trim levels, but on the GT2 there is an "Oil Temperature" reading in the LCD screen between the gauges. That normally stabilizes at 200?F. The question is what oil temperature is that, engine oil or transmission oil? Both run in approximately the same ranges...

How often do you polish and wax your car?

I'm a bit different than many people here because I don't spend $thousands on ceramic coatings, wraps, clear bras and other add-ons. I take a brand new car, prep the surface as needed (minimal if any clay bar), then wax with a good carnuba/polymer paste wax. All my washes are "as needed" which...

Lost a race against an Audi S4

I'm with MarkyMark. Stoplight racing is too risky for tickets because it's usually in traffic areas where you can't watch everywhere for police. It's also very expensive to replace a set of those 19" tires every 10,000 miles or less. I am not an "aggressive" driver, but I am an opportunistic...

Lost a race against an Audi S4

Audi claims the same 0-60 times as the Stinger at 4.7 sec. Car and Driver says 4.3 sec. in their test (they got 4.4 for the Stinger.) The 2018 went away from the dual-clutch transmission to a ZF torque converter 8-speed. Governed top end is 150.

Kia Stinger front and side vents air flow

Yes, lots of fine gravel that I hose out when I wash the car, but no paint chips anywhere.
