K&N Typhoon Intake Review - Completed

Ehhh, so I decided to trim my BOV hoses to shorten them and straighten out the bends a bit more (~1" on both hoses), but now I have a pronounced police-siren pitch wind-up sound that I think was caused by the unfortunate comedy of errors with just the right (wrong?) length of driver's side BOV...

    K&N Typhoon larger filters

I've been pondering this for awhile, but haven't gotten around to it. You'll only really max out the filters that came with it with fairly aggressive mods. Until you're pushing 500+HP, I wouldn't worry about larger filters. Of course, once you ARE pushing more power, the increased surface...

    Transmission Upper Power Limit

And I bet you babied it and never exceeded the speed limit, right? Drove in Eco mode only [tongue] Eventually, someone will come forth about their friend's cousin's distant relative's Stinger GT that was running NOS on the dyno and blew the transmission apart at 700WHP [paranoid]

    Transmission Upper Power Limit

That's the point: trying to keep it anonymous, lol... Someone has to have pushed the limits hard enough, but I'm hoping they're around to cast their vote until we start seeing where all the votes show up. Don't want people exposing themselves damaging their transmissions with 600HP [deviltail]

Updated info on Kia Stinger LAP3 Protuner

That's what I'm wondering: if they'll do a group buy or an initial run pricing scheme to get these out in the wild to spread word of the product.

Updated info on Kia Stinger LAP3 Protuner

Oh geez, the LAP3 USA website says $1200 for this thing... My gawd that's steep considering an actual tune would cost less. Hell, I miss the days of HPTuners, now [unbelieveable]

Updated info on Kia Stinger LAP3 Protuner

Yea, being able to control stuff from the center console screen via Android Auto would have been car nerd cargasms all day... I hate having to look at my phone or a laptop or something to get readouts, etc [biggrin]

K&N Typhoon Intake Review - Completed

UPDATE: The nylon plastic fittings that come with the K&N intake are not very durable! Granted, part of the problem in my case is that I had to buy a different hose, and since my hose doesn't come prebent (FYI: prebent hoses are that way to mitigate/absorb torsional motion during driving which...

Updated info on Kia Stinger LAP3 Protuner

To be blunt: I prefer the horsepower. The saying "there is no replacement for displacement" is where this engine is at its weakest: top-speed. It's got a mad dash to 60, but it actually loses a lot of steam compared to my old 5.3L V8 when it comes to approaching the triple digits. Thus, even...

Dyno results : Stock vs K&N Typhoon on 3.3TT

Most intakes do: a factory intake is a lower flow volume which makes drawing air through the intake easier. Think of how you breath versus if you forced yourself through a straw. If you inhale slowly, the air coming in the straw is going to be faster than if you breathe in slowly from your...

PLEASE HELP - Front Strut Removal

Well shi- I planned on doing this myself in the garage as well. I've been peaking around down there planning it out, and I also noticed the front lacked the two bolts at the bottom that I'm also used to on MacPhersons. It also eliminates the possibility of a camber bolt which is making me...

Updated info on Kia Stinger LAP3 Protuner

Those numbers... 445WHP [burnout] This is now on my list. I hope the pricing can be fair and flexible and not tear me a new one... [^]

Wagner Tuning Intercooler currently under development

Yeaaaa, see that kills it for me because it will always bother me, lol... If they can fix that, I'd consider it as a "mild" intercooler upgrade option. Right now, I'm just in a holding pattern since there's really nothing in between this and fairly larger intercoolers.

Isn't that the one where the pics show it mounted off-center? Does yours mount centered instead of like the pics on the product page on K8 Stinger Store?

Dyno results : Stock vs K&N Typhoon on 3.3TT

So you got a little over 12WHP from the K&N Intake. It's nice to know that they were conservative with their dyno, lol Though, the bone stock hitting 356WHP is a little strange indeed... Dynojets are putting out dyno numbers rating the Stinger GT at well over 400HP stock. I don't know whether...

Wagner Tuning Intercooler currently under development

My issue so far is that the intercooler options are either marginally better than stock or just too massive and aggressive. There needs to be a middle-road intercooler. One that's merely an inch taller and an inch wider. Call it a "mild" intercooler, if you will. I'm not looking to add too...

Hackjob (Sort of) Downpipe + 2-Cat Delete

Depends on where you live: if there's an inspection, you won't pass. If you're unlucky, you won't pass the tailpipe test depending on your other mods, either. I saved my factory downpipes: it's a simple bolt-off bolt-on process to swap the factory ones back on when smog time comes around in 7...

Hackjob (Sort of) Downpipe + 2-Cat Delete

Not sure if you saw, but the person above just answered it. You won't throw any codes. The secondary cats are specifically to further reduce tailpipe emissions and the engine doesn't read any data from these two at all.
